Cammalleri Scores In 1-0 Win

Mike Cammilleri celebrating his goal
Mike Cammalleri scores against his former team, the lone goal was all that was need for the Flames to win.  Okay, not all they needed, Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 28 shots for his fourth shutout of the year.  The win puts the Flames in a playoff spot, for now.

The battle for the eight spot in the Western Conference was another game of brother vs. brother as Calgary's Brent Sutter goes 2-1-0-0 against former Flames GM and head coach, now Los Angeles head coach, Darryl, who drops to 1-1-0-1.  Next Sutter battle will be in their home province in the Saddledome on 28 March.

Cammalleri Back with the Flames

Cammalleri will wear number 93
Oh man, I am excited about the Flames again.  The Calgary Flames made a trade with the Montreal Canadiens. The trade that brought back Mike Cammalleri, some goaltender, and a 2012 draft pick to Harvey's house while sending Rene Bourque, some prospect, and a 2013 draft pick to Youppi's house.  Basically, Bourque for Cammalleri.

I have always been a fan of Cammalleri, ever since his days in Los Angeles.  I was excited when he played in Calgary, disappointed when he left.  Now, he is back.  Cammalleri will play his first game against his other former team, the Kings.  So, we have a player traded back to his former team and make his debut against another former team.

Also, in tonight's game.  We have brother vs. brother as former Flames GM/coach, Darryl Sutter, now coach of the Kings returns to Calgary to take on his brother, Brent Sutter, head coach of Calgary Flames.  Oh, this is exciting.

Cammalleri celebrates with Mikael Backlund.  Cammalleri scored the only goal in a 4-1 loss to the Kings.

Flames Win 2-0, Kiprusoff Gets Shutout

I was at the Staples Center tonight as the Calgary Flames shutout the Los Angeles Kings, 2-0. I sat in the corner, second row from the glass. Really good seats to see Kipper, I was to the right of him during the first and third periods.

As the Flames came out before puck drop, I waved at them. Since I was at their defensive zone most of the game. I got a nod from the Captain, Jarome Iginla, and a wink form Craig Conroy. AWESOME!!! Before the third, I got eye contact with Miikka Kiprusoff.

Met a few folks that came down from Calgary for the game. I am such a nerd.

Thanks to Lisa and Dave, I got really good seats. Nice scuffle along the boards...right in front of us.

When you get such great seats, you relise how big these guys are. Even Squid looked big.

Mike Cammalleri scored a powerplay goal in the first period, assisted by Todd Bertuzzi and Jarome Iginla.

Rene Bourque (second from left) scored an empty netter to seal the victory for the Flames.

Miikka Kiprusoff with his thirtieth career shutout.

Five Point Game For Iginla and Cammalleri

Calgary Flames beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-4 in the New Year's Eve Battle of Alberta. Flames Captain Jarome Iginla and Mike Cammalleri each scored two goals and added three assists. The five point game is a first and career high for both. The also put the Flames at a solid first place in the Northwest Division heading into the new year....Happy New Year, indeed.
